Clear glass
A clean, versatile starting point.
Standard clear glass lets the surrounding finishes stay in view. A green tint can be noticeable at the edges and through thicker panels.
Consider for
Showers, office partitions, shelves and tabletops.
MEVA GLASS / MATERIAL GUIDE
Start with the look you want. We’ll help match the glass, thickness and hardware to your project.
COLOR, CLARITY & TEXTURE
These are options to discuss with Meva Glass. Available thicknesses, panel sizes, tempering and lead times vary by product; not every finish is available for every application.
AI-generated reference illustrations. Actual color, texture and transparency vary with the product, thickness and lighting. Please confirm your selection with a physical sample.

Let the tile and materials show.
Low-iron glass reduces the green cast of standard clear glass. Starphire® is a branded low-iron option from Vitro; confirm the specified product with your quote.
Consider for
Showers, wine rooms and interiors where color clarity matters.
Diffuse light and soften the view.
A matte surface creates a translucent appearance. Discuss full-panel frosting or a privacy band; silhouettes may remain visible depending on lighting and distance.
Consider for
Privacy panels, bathrooms and office partitions.
Add a linear texture.
Vertical ribbing adds a decorative pattern and changes the view through the panel. Pattern depth, orientation and privacy vary by product.
Consider for
Cabinet inserts, partitions and specialty enclosures where suitable.
Bring texture into the design.
Textured surfaces create visual interest and obscure detail. Review a physical sample to judge the pattern and degree of privacy.
Consider for
Decorative panels and compatible shower configurations.
Introduce a warmer or darker tone.
Tinted glass changes the color and light passing through it. It is not opaque; review the tint with your room lighting and hardware finish.
Consider for
Wine rooms, partitions, shelving and decorative work.
Antique mirror example
Reflect light or add an aged finish.
Choose a clean reflection or an antique pattern with character. Bronze and other specialty mirror finishes can create a warmer look.
Consider for
Vanities, gym walls, backsplashes and feature walls; not a substitute for shower glass.
Create a solid-color surface.
A painted rear surface gives glass an opaque color. Discuss color matching, edge details and the intended installation location.
Consider for
Wall cladding, backsplashes and decorative panels.

THICKNESS GUIDE
Common trade sizes are shown below. Metric sizes are nominal equivalents, not exact conversions. These examples help start a conversation; they are not a sizing or load specification.
| Thickness | Nominal metric | Where it may fit |
|---|---|---|
| 1/4 inch | 6 mm | Mirrors, cabinet inserts, supported decorative panels and systems specifically designed for this thickness.|
| 5/16 inch | 8 mm | Selected shower systems and specialty applications with compatible hardware.|
| 3/8 inch | 10 mm | A common option for custom frameless showers, with size and hardware checked for the layout.|
| 1/2 inch | 12 mm | A more substantial option for compatible frameless showers and interior glass applications.|
| 3/4 inch | 19 mm | Selected heavy glass tabletops and specialty work, subject to fabrication and support requirements.
Both are options for many custom frameless designs. Half-inch glass has a thicker edge and adds weight. The final choice depends on door size, fixed-panel layout, supports and hardware compatibility—not appearance alone.
We’ll confirm the glass and hardware together before ordering.
MORE THAN APPEARANCE
Tempering is a heat treatment, not a color or finish. Cutouts and holes must be planned before tempering. Finished tempered glass cannot be cut or drilled to adjust the fit.
Laminated glass combines layers with an interlayer. Total thickness and construction depend on the application. Railings need a project-specific glass and support specification; thickness alone does not establish suitability.
Ask about available shower-glass protective treatments, including Clarvista where available. Confirm care instructions and product availability with your quote. A treatment does not eliminate routine cleaning.
